What is the key architectural difference between RDS and Aurora?
spaceto flip
RDS uses EBS-based storage attached to individual instances. Aurora uses a shared, distributed storage layer that replicates 6 copies of data across 3 AZs automatically. Aurora's storage auto-scales up to 128 TB. This architecture gives Aurora faster replication, quicker failover (~30s vs 60-120s), and eliminates storage provisioning.
